TREMONTON –Members of the community showed up to Meadow Park Tuesday morning as the Utah Jazz and the Larry H. Miller Charities officially opened a new public basketball court.

The court is the 17th “community court” built by the organizations and is located the furthest north. It features 5,600 square feet of playing surface in Jazz colors, six adjustable hoops and a Jazz logo at center court.”

“This is a very special court, cutting edge technology,” said Steve Brown, a broadcaster with the Utah Jazz. “It’s called post-tension court. What that means, as you look at it, there is no seam. It is one solid piece of concrete.”

The celebration included a performance by the Jazz Dancers and a show by the Jazz Dunk Team. Tremonton Mayor Roger Fridal said the court will be enjoyed by the kids and adults of Tremonton.

“We have organizations like the Utah Jazz that do what is best for not only Salt Lake City, but for places like Tremonton off of the Wasatch Front,” he said. “We appreciate the Utah Jazz and Larry H. Miller Charities much for their help in organizing and getting this basketball court set up.”

The court was put into immediate use after the ribbon cutting as kids swarmed the court to play basketball.
