RIVERDALE, Utah – Employees from Larry H. Miller Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Riverdale (LHM Riverdale) will deliver meals to elementary school students from low-income families at Roy Elementary on February 19 at 1:30 p.m. in participation with Catholic Community Services of Northern Utah’s (CCSNU) “Bridging the Gap” program. “Bridging the Gap” partners with local school districts to provide meals to students at low-income elementary schools to sustain them during the weekends when children may be without food.

“There are more than 20,000 students in the Ogden and Weber School Districts who participate in the free and reduced lunch program during the school week,” said Randy Chappell, director, Catholic Community Services of Northern Utah. “Unfortunately, they don’t have access to these meals on the weekend and that’s where ‘Bridging the Gap’ steps in. We’re thrilled to have employees from Larry H. Miller Riverdale recognize the need and offer their support.”

The “Bridging the Gap” program runs throughout the year and is currently serving 2,100 students per month in Ogden and Weber counties. The goal is to provide four meals, plus cereal, each week.

“When we learned of the amount of children who face hunger in Utah everyday, we knew we had to help,” said Troy Bullard, general manager, LHM Riverdale. “I’m a former Roy Elementary student and having the opportunity to give back at a school I attended makes this experience all the more rewarding. The smiles on the kid’s faces let us know we’re truly making a difference.”

Employees from LHM Riverdale participate monthly in the meal deliveries at Roy Elementary. Approximately 450 – 510 children pick up food each month at the school.
