SANDY, UT (November 21, 2016) – Utahans enjoyed a magical weekend at the movies as Megaplex Theatres at Jordan Commons ranked number one in the United States for the opening of the Harry Potter prequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

“During this Thanksgiving season, we are grateful that more movie fans chose to enjoy the release of a fantastic family film at Megaplex Theatres at Jordan Commons than any other complex in the U.S.,” said Blake Andersen, President of Megaplex Theatres. “In the tradition of the Larry H. Megaplex Theatres has ranked first in the nation for each of the Harry Potter films that have premiered since Jordan Commons first opened in 1999.

According to national movie tracking data, Megaplex Theatres at The District in South Jordan ranked number five in the U.S. while the Megaplex Theatres at Geneva, Thanksgiving Point, Gateway, and Legacy Crossing all finished in the top 100.

Dozens of companies and organizations kicked off the holiday season by hosting Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts themed corporate parties, banquets, and special events at multiple Megaplex Theatres locations.

In October, five Megaplex IMAX locations in Utah hosted a Harry Potter special engagement that allowed fans to see as many of the Harry Potter films as they wanted during the week-long engagement.

Utah leads the nation in Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts related online Google searches.
