PHOENIX – Larry H. Miller Dealerships announced today that it will be hosting its second annual car seat safety campaign in honor of National Child Passenger Safety Month this September. Aptly named “Keys to Car Seat Safety,” the campaign is a joint effort with Safe Kids Arizona and local first responders across the Valley and Tucson, wherein members of the community are invited to attend free car seat safety checks each Saturday throughout the month of September.
During each three-hour event, held 8 a.m. – 11 a.m., car seats and child booster seats will be checked for proper installation and informational safety materials will be offered to attendees with tips on how to maintain a properly installed car seat. Seats will be checked on a first come, first served basis. Visitors to the events will be treated to a family-friendly affair, and light refreshments and water will be provided.
“We were thrilled to see such a positive response from the community last year, and we are very excited to provide these free safety checks once again in honor of National Child Passenger Safety Month,” said Pat Kroneberger, senior vice president of operations, Larry H. Miller Dealerships.
According to Safe Kids Worldwide, nearly 73 percent of all car seats are installed incorrectly and motor vehicle injuries are the leading cause of death amongst children in the United States.
“It’s a staggering statistic,” says Kroneberger. “We are intent on doing our part to keep kids safe in the communities we serve, and we hope to provide an outlet for education on proper installation techniques. Our children’s safety is of the utmost importance.”
In addition to the safety events, Larry H. Miller Charities will make a $10,000 donation to Safe Kids Arizona, which will be used to purchase car seats for those in need.
