Larry H. Miller Subaru Boise Donates More Than $30,000 to Idaho Humane Society and Ride for Joy March 29

BOISE – Larry H. Miller Subaru Boise (LHM Subaru) will present a check for $20,250 to the Idaho Humane Society and a check for $11,000 to Ride for Joy, the dealership’s “hometown charities” for Subaru’s Share the Love program, on March 29.

Through this program, LHM Subaru had the opportunity to select a charity operating in their community to add to the list of organizations that new Subaru owners and leasees could select from to receive a $250 donation per vehicle from Subaru of America, Inc. LHM Subaru invited customers to vote for their favorite charities, resulting in the selection of Idaho Humane Society and Ride for Joy. The campaign ran from November 20, 2015 to January 2, 2016.

The Idaho Humane Society, which advocates for the welfare and responsible care of animals and promotes education, awareness and compassion, will use the donation to support their shelter operations.

“As an open-admission shelter that never turns an animal away, the Idaho Humane Society sees more than 12,000 pets come through our doors each year,” said Leann Gilberg, chief financial officer, Idaho Humane Society. “Donations such as this generous gift, help with everything from feeding and boarding animals to vaccinating, micro-chipping, spay/neutering and providing medical attention.”

Ride for Joy, a therapeutic riding program for children with cognitive and physical disabilities and veterans suffering from physical, mental or emotional injuries, will use their donation to help underwrite the cost of lessons.

In November 2015, Subaru of America, Inc. pledged to donate $15 million for this year’s event, but due to another year of record sales, the company added an additional $3.5 million for a total of $18.5 million.
