Utah Jazz Announce 2016-17 Regular Season Schedule

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz announced today the team’s 2016-17 regular season schedule. The Jazz tipoff their 43rd NBA campaign on the road at the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 25, opening on the road for second consecutive season. Utah’s home opener comes three days later on Oct. 28 against the Los Angeles Lakers. The regular season will conclude on April 12 vs. San Antonio Spurs at Vivint Smart Home Arena.

The first game at Portland will mark the fourth season opener with the Trail Blazers in franchise history and the first since the 2003-04 campaign. The team will then return to Salt Lake City to host L.A. for the fourth ever home opener against the Lakers and the first since the 2004-05 season.

Other Jazz games of note include the Golden State Warriors’ only appearance in Salt Lake City on Dec. 8, one home game against the 2016 NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers on Jan. 10, visits twice by the Spurs (Nov. 4, April 12), and the Northwest Division rivals Minnesota Timberwolves (March 1, April 7) and Trail Blazers (Feb. 15 and April 4).

Utah is also scheduled to appear on national television 16 times, including three TNT broadcasts (Nov. 17, Jan. 26, March 27), four ESPN broadcasts (Dec. 16, Jan. 13, March 22, April 4) and nine NBA TV appearances. A complete broadcast schedule will be released at a later date.

Utah will play all Eastern Conference teams twice each and Western Conference teams four times apiece, with the exception of four out-of-division Western Conference teams which it will face just three times. The four teams include: New Orleans Pelicans and Phoenix Suns (two home, one road) and Warriors and Houston Rockets (two road, one home).

The Jazz’s month-by-month breakdown includes three games in October (one home, two road), 16 games in November (seven home, nine road), 15 games in December (11 home, four road), 15 games in January (seven home, eight road), 11 games in February (five home, six road), 16 games in March (seven home, nine road) and six games in April (three home, three road). The Jazz will have an eight-day extended All-Star break from February 16-23, with All-Star Weekend taking place February 17-19.

The Jazz schedule features 17 back-to-back sets (seven away/home, seven away/away, one home/home and two home/away). The longest homestand at Vivint Smart Home Arena will span five games (Dec. 6-16). The Jazz will face three road trips of four-plus games, including two five-game road stretches from Nov. 6-12 and Jan. 2-8. The team will also have one span of four games in five nights (Jan. 20-24).
